Let's talk about sex- a different take on a scene in One Week Antworten

Yeah, well, I was not really satisfied how that one scene ended up, and so I wrote this alternate take

Let’s talk about sex, baby,
let’s talk about you and me
Let’s talk about all the good things
and the bad things that may be
Let’s talk about sex
Let’s talk about sex.
(Hab vergessen von wem das lied ist)

Setting: The living room/Study/whatever at No 12, Grimmauld Place
Time: Tuesday evening, 8 pm
Characters present: Arthur and Molly, Bill and Fleur, Remus and Tonks, Fred and George, Ginny, McGonagall, Fleur’s mother, Gabrielle, Hestia, Alastor, Arnold the Pygmy Puff(though the last might just as well be absent, he has little text in this scene…lol)

Everyone is in the study, reading, writing something down, sewing, or talking

Molly (casual tone, to Tonks): So, there’s something I need you to tell me…
Tonks (w.o. looking up from paper): Yes of course. What’s the matter?
Molly: Well, today I got the impression that you and Remus…that you are sharing a room.
Tonks: That’s right. So?
Molly: Well…there’s only one bed in there.
Tonks: But it’s big enough for both of us.
Molly: That’s not what I mean. What I want to say is that…well, you are not married.
Remus: We’re not getting married any time soon either, if that is what you want to cause with this.
Molly: No, no, that’s neither what I meant. What I meant is that I think it’s inappropriate for an unmarried couple to share a bed. (During the last sentence, her voice got steadily louder)
Fred: Yes, they could do nasty things in there.
(Both twins grin broadly)
Ginny (putting Arnold, with whom she was playing, down): Mum you do know this is a very old-fashioned point of view.
Molly: That does not say that it’s wrong to have it. Tonks, maybe you could sleep in Ginny’s room until Hermione moves in?
Tonks: Much as I’d like that, I see no reason to look for another room. I like the one I’m in right now.
Fleur: She’s not letting us have a room together, too, n’est-ce pas, Billie?
Ginny (whispering): You think you have it bad? Officially I do not know what this is about at all. She still refuses to give me The Talk.
Everybody close to her starts to giggle.
Molly: Well, but there are other possibilities, and I don’t think anyone your age should rush things.
Bill: Is Your Age mine, or Remus’?
Molly: Sex before marriage is just not the thing a young woman should do. Why should anyone bother to buy the cow if he can have the milk for free?
The people in the room look even more amused.
Hestia: Is that stupid saying still in use? Oh boy…
Tonks: I am no cow, just to make that point absolutely clear.
Fleur: Why would anyone buy a cow, anyway? You can get the milk at the supermarket.
George: Gee, and I wonder how the milk at the supermarket is produced.
Gabrielle: Ce n’est pas un discussion du lait, c’est un discussion de sexualité.
Ginny: I probably agree, though I didn’t get one word of what she said.
Molly: Alright, it was a stupid example. But the point is that…
Minerva: I think everyone in this room is old enough to make their own discussions, Molly.
Ginny (hopeful): Me, too?
Minerva: Well, except your youngest daughter.
Ginny pouts.
Minerva: So, let them just make them.
Molly: They are not old enough for this kind of decisions.
George: If I am not too bad at maths, YOU had two children at Tonks’ age.
Molly: That’s beside the point. I was married at that time, after all.
Arthur: Darling, maybe you should just leave it.
Hestia: Or stick to your own kids before lecturing others.
Molly: What do you mean?
George: She means that it is not Tonks who is suffering from morning sickness, after all.
Molly(in a dangerous voice): So.
Minerva: I’ve… got urgent business. See you later.
Hestia: Yeah, I should be going, too.
Ginny: I’m going to bed.
Moody leaves without a word.
Remus(to Tonks): Let’s go.
Tonks: Why? The discussion isn’t finished yet.
Remus: Well, but it has reached a level which might better stay in the family.
Outside, Minerva stops and whispers: I don’t want to gossip, but when Molly had Bill, she had only been married for five months…

#2 RE: Let's talk about sex- a different take on a scene in One Week Antworten

Just a little something that I couldn't get out of my head:

The morning after this talk, when everybody was down in the kitchen for breakfast, there was a small problem:

Molly: Arthur, do you want a drink of milk?

Arthur: Oh, yes, I'd like that, dear.

Everyone else(looking at each other) laughs out loud.

Fred: Not in front of everyone, Mum.

George: Well, in that case, it's only about the milk. The cow has already been bought, so to say.

oh. i know this topic. i was in the usa for one year and i knew plenty of girls who wore this "promise ring", a ring they get at a ceremony at church after having promised not to have sex before marriage. there it is a serious topic while in germany everyone would laugh about it. i didn't though, because i knew it is a cultural thing (religious, too, but in a cultural context) and i accepted it. I told them, however, that one usually does not find such things in germany and that i myself did not think it wrong to have sex before marriage.

this text is really good, funny but with a serious topic. :-)

I've heard about these rings before. And I still wonder...If I vow to stay a virgin while I am fifteen and single, and then meet the boy of my dreams one year later, will I not be tempted to do it anyway?

well i understand it a bit. but i once asked a friend what she would do if she won't find a husband until she's 30. i don't remember her answer but i know that I could not wait that long...

and i don't think that sex is a sin. it is something wonderful when two persons are in love with each other and get so close. ;-)

At the moment I don't have the feeling I will have a boyfriend, let alone husband, before I am thirty
