just thought, i'd open a topic here. what is your opinion?! do french films suck? i cannot decide. i've watched some and i think it depends on the topic, but lots of people say that french films are somewhat peculiar...
They say the same about British/German films, actually anything that was not made in Hollywood. At least that's what I have heard before. And I think, just as with American films, it really depends...do the actors know what they're doing? Is there a plot you like? etc.etc.etc.
I think that french movies are sometimes more experimentel. kinda freaky...and there are more open to certain topics than americans are...but i would say they are freaky just because they speak french *g* which is freaky in itself *g*
yeah, somehow that fits into what i think. in my opinion, french films are more experimental, they talk about topics nobody wants to talk about, and they have a (sometimes very) bizarre kind of humour. nevertheless, i think, french films are sometimes harder to understand because there is more substance to them than in films made in hollywood. and the language is special, not freaky...
i personally love french movies. amélie for example or "les choristes" (die kinder des monsieur matthieu) are wonderful. it's different, but i like it. :-)
