Fighting Imaginary Monsters Antworten
Nach Monaten des nicht-kreativ-seins endlich mal eine brauchbare Inspiration.
Hier ist eine kleine Geschichte samt Bild, die mir einfach so eingefallen ist.

Fighting Imaginary Monsters

„And you are certain that will work?“ Anna asked. She had met her friends and allies earlier, prepared for the mission that might very well change their entire lives. And the fate of the world, of course.
A few days earlier, Cody had heard the first rumours about the attacks that seemed to be occurring all over the country. Strange beings had walked through the villages, destroying the crops and scaring the people living there. And the rumours had it that a mighty beast might be responsible for it. It could fly, it commanded large armies, it had three heads, could breathe fire, and, according to their companion Jared, also had several alien spaceships under its control. How exactly it came to have these, no one knew, but they did know that they had to act. They were, after all, the only heroes up to the task. Anna, Cody, Jared and Samantha had been living on the same street for years, and had braved so many adventures that no one would even believe them. They had, without any help from grown-ups, saved old Mrs. Camden’s cat from the tree (which had been a clever ploy by the evil spirits, of course, who had bewitched the tree, as they feared cats), found out who had stolen the cherry cake from the Millers’ garden table and chased off the dark-cloaked riders who only came in foggy November nights, by singing the special song while the moon was full.
And now they would fight this monster. It had taken up refuge in the cave right opposite the raging river (which, according to the grown-ups, who never knew anything) was nothing but an abandoned old shack next to a little stream).
They had their weapons with them as they slipped towards the stream, keeping their heads low. Already they could hear strange noises coming from the cave. Was the monster…giggling? Samantha edged closer to her friends, holding her shield (consisting of a chipped plate her mother had actually wanted to throw away) in front of her. Cody, who considered himself something of a leader since he was the oldest of them all, having already celebrated his seventh birthday some weeks ago, decided that before they crossed the dangerous raving river, it would be the time to give a little speech of encouragement. Unfortunately, he did not know how to do that at all, so that what he actually said was a mix of several things he had heard on television. “We stand now before this task, and it might change the fact of the universe and …well everything. You know, this is really dangerous and no one can guartee… guarantee that we will all return. But we will do it anyway because…er…because the monster is evil and we are blessed by…by great gifts.”
“If we don’t find any other way”, Anna whispered in Samantha’s ear, “we could let him talk to the monster, so it falls asleep or dies of laughter.” Samantha started to giggle.
They reached the other side of the river without any dramatic incidents (if you didn’t count Jared slipping and getting his shoes wet, claiming that the water-spirits were obviously on the monster’s side and had tried to drown him). That made everything even more exciting.
Then they had reached their destination. Shuffling could be heard from the inside. The monster is preparing for us, Samantha thought.
Cody looked at them all, and as one, they lifted their weapons, and Cody pushed the door open. A voice was heard from the inside
”What the…”
Ooh, the monster did know some bad words. Yet, there was something familiar about that voice, Anna thought.
She peeked past Cody, who had stopped in the doorway, and so did the others. Anna’s older brother Jamie was inside, together with that blonde girl that lived next to the newsagent’s shop. What was her name…Joan, Josie, something like that.
And they were angry. Plus not wearing shirts.
“The monster probably took them hostage.” Jared mused as they sat on the grass in front of his house later. “And stole their clothes. We scared it away, and they weren’t really angry at us, but at it. They just thought it was the monster coming back.” His friends nodded.
Yes, that had to be it. There was no other explanation.
And tomorrow, they would scout for the monster’s new hiding place.
They were the heroes, after all.
