I have read that series in German so many times that I probably won't read it again any time soon...I somehow stopped halfway through the last time, because I knew exactly what was going to happen next. Maybe next year...
I love the "Little House"-books by Laura Ingalls :)
As you can see, I still read "children's literature". Come on, it's just as cool as anything else, why shouldn't we read it?

you're so right!
i have only read the anne series in german, so i want to take the adventure and read it in english. maybe when i'm back, because buying books here in france is a tough issue.
do you have the little house series? i only know the tv series and i've always loved it!

There's this kid who came to the library where I work, maybe twelve years old, who wanted to borrow all these really heavy adult thrillers, because "all the other books are stupid".
What's more, when I asked him, he admitted never having read a children's book, or a book for "younger readers" he could remember, he just knew they were.
We refused to give them the books unfit for his age. The next time he brought his father who got the adult books for him.
I think he's a very sad child, having to do what is considered "cool" and "good" by others...

Okay, granted.
Yet he was kinda spooky in my opinion.
And I also think most boys read way less. Why, though? What secret important business do they have that keeps them from it. Hmmm..that'd be worth a story :D

yes, it's weird that most of the boys/men don't like to read. my boyfriend for example doesn't like reading, and poetry is something to run away from. really sad, because many poems of mine deal exactly with him. :p

on the other hand, i know a guy who reads a lot. he wanted to read our canon of english literature just for fun! so there are the exceptions.
